Join us as we celebrate the musical legacy of New Brunswick’s own James P. Johnson, who penned the ‘Charleston,’ the defining song and dance of the 1920s. Enjoy a full 11-piece orchestra playing transcriptions of authentic 1920s dance band music by Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra, the world’s premier Jazz-Age dance orchestra, and learn to cut a rug with dance lessons from the Bathtub Ginnies
The day will also feature a vintage DJ playing records from the early 1900s to the 1930s on wind-up phonographs with a “special appearance” by an Orthophonic Victrola. Enjoy food and beverages, photo ops, and more
